Summer is officially here which means outdoor entertaining is in full swing! I love the casual entertaining vibe that is synonymous with summer but you don’t always have to BBQ when you entertain. Instead, I have a simple Italian theme menu that is sure to please your company.
Putting together an antipasto tray is very easy as you just select a variety of meats and cheeses and throw in some olives. I used several types of salami, proscuitto, brie cheese, blue cheese and smoked gouda cheese. You can serve it with sliced baguette, breadsticks or crackers and, of course, a selection of red and white wines.
Serve them on cutting boards which add a rustic, casual feel to your table. I love these cutting boards with legs as they add height to your table.
When setting a table, I like to add layers to each place setting by using a charger, dinner plate, salad plate and napkins. Have fun and mix up your pieces. They all don’t have to match (although I know my bowl and salad plates match here).
For summer I like to keep the meal light. Here is a simple pasta salad which you can serve with grilled chicken. I meant to add balsamic glaze to the chicken which gives it a more gourmet look but completely forgot! I didn’t remember until after we started eating.
Who doesn’t love to eat dessert out of glasses? It’s the best way to display all the layers when making a parfait. I placed all the glasses in a basket lined with a dish towel. Again, lots of layers! It adds more to your vignette than simply placing the glasses on the table.
After dinner, sit back, relax and turn on the lights and light a few candles. Enjoy the evening!
