Our home has a rather good size front porch which is so much fun to decorate especially for fall. I just fill the corners with mums, crotons and pumpkins and then I have “fall on the front porch.”
The trick to making a little vignette pleasing to the eye is to stagger the heights of your items. I found this cute little red stool at Home Goods which is perfect for raising the height of a small mum. I like this arrangement but I think there is too much yellow so I will play around with it some more.
To the right side of the door I want to create an arrangement that is comparable in size to the one on the left. So I used the large croton plant which is equal in size to the large mum. These rustic wooden pumpkins (click here to learn how to make them) look great propped up in front of it too.
I swapped the Croton and large mum for a better balance in colors. Then added some pumpkins and large gourds around the columns. I could add pumpkins up the steps too but this works for now.
As for the sitting area I updated my summer cushions with these warm fall colors. I added a throw and pillow. Yes, you may have seen the same throw and pillow in the back porch and other areas of my home. I keep moving them around. I can’t decide where they look best as they look good everywhere I put them.
I added a few little pinecones around the owl as the finishing touch.
Now the trick is to remember to water my mums often so they last through October. I hope the pumpkins last to Halloween too!
